That seems to have firmed things up and solved the problem, but of course time. My wrinkle on your fix was to epoxy dimes over the cracks. I isolated the problem to the display connection because I unplugged the camera connection and the problem still persisted. I have a beloved pre-unibody 2008 MacBook Pro and this year those dreaded cracks developed in the bezel - all the way through on the left side and part way on the right. The display and camera connections were both well-attached, so then I disconnected and reconnected both of them. I did a screen shot and the vertical lines are missing, which is good, and I used the DIY repair link that was pasted above and I've begun to tear down my laptop and diagnose a little.
